1.1 These connections are comparable to thosecovered under the requirements of the Specification for Structural Joints UsingHigh-Strength Bolts, approved by the Research Council on StructuralConnections; endorsed by the American Institute of Steel Construction and bythe Industrial Fastener Institute.

1.2The bolts are furnished in sizes M12 toM36 inclusive. They are designated by type denoting chemical composition asfollows:

Type 1—Medium-carbon, carbon boron, mediumcarbon alloy, or alloy boron steel.

Type 2—Withdrawn in 2003

Type 3—Weathering Steel
