Zinc Reference electrodes are used to measure cathodic protection potentials. The electrode is made using a 99.99% pure zinc bar. They have the longest life of any of the permanent type reference cells.

It is not normally advisable to use an electrode in direct contact with an electrolyte but in the case of zinc in clean sea water, the accuracy is sufficient for many applications.

High pure zinc reference electrode and the Cu/CuSO4 reference electrode are two long-life reference electrodes widely used for buried structures. High pure zinc anode can be used where some CuSO4 reference electrodes can not be used due to its compression resistant characteristic. But because zinc reference electrodes do not have good potential stability as CuSO4 reference electrodes, using both together is suggested. Some available sizes: 50*250mm, 75*200mm, 25*200mm.
