There are mainly four types of classifier: high weir single spiral classifier, high weir double spiral classifier, submerged single spiral classifier and submerged double spiral classifier. The equipment is mainly composed of driving device, spiral body, collection box, lifting unit, bottom support (engine bearing) and ore discharge valve.

Applicable scope of spiral classifier:
 
1. Form a closed circulation with the ball grinder for ore-sand separation in the ore separation plant;
2. Classify ore sand and fine sludge in gravity ore separation plant;
3. Classify the ore pulp according to granularity during the metal ore separation process;
4. Remove sludge/water at the ore separation process.
 
Work principle of spiral classifier:
 
Spiral classifier mechanically classifies the ore materials through the mechanism of different sedimentation speed of solid particle in liquid due to different granularity and specific gravity. The fine ore floating in the water overflows out; and the coarse ore sediments on the tank bottom and then is pushed upwards by the spiral to be feed the grinding machine.
