Most common causes of photographic and cinematographic equipment damage are moldy lens, lens glue separation, worn-off coating, aperture failure, focus ring too tight, lens oil leakage, infinity focus failure, dust particles, and damaged coating.
As optical lenses are exposed to more than 60% RH, they are threaten by mildew, which causes irreversible damages on the equipment. Mildew are generated and proliferated at > 60% RH & 12℃~38℃. The rate of fungus growth will speed up at 80%-95% RH. Once mildew growth develops on the lens, the photos/images taken would lose significant resolutions and quality.
