Specifications
PREVECTRON advanced lightning protection air terminals are manufactured exclusively by INDELEC in France.
The Prevectron world-leading air terminals offer safe and reliable lightning protection solutions. Thousands of Prevectron air terminals have been installed in more than 90 countries, on residential and commercial buildings, industrial estates, golf courses, stadium, Offshore oil rigs, hotels and resorts, Power generation and substations and world famous Heritage buildings (Red Fort in Delhi – India, Notre Dame in Paris – France, Angkor Vat in Siem Reap – Cambodia, Tower of London – UK, the Acropolis in Athens – Greece or the National Palace in Mexico.
Moreover, INDELEC is also the leading manufacturer in terms of Lightning protection Research, conducting test campaigns in real lightning conditions since 1993, as well as extensive testing programs in High Voltage laboratories in various countries (France, Czech Rep, China, India, Korea etc..).
Prevectron Key Benefits:
- Large range of Prevectron air terminals
- Ultra safe capture tip (full continuity)
- Fully autonomous operation
- Total reliability in every climatic condition
- Safe for using on every type of site
- Tested in independant HV Labs
- Tested in Real Lightning conditions
- ISO 9001:2000 manufacturing process
Prevectron operation:
The PREVECTRON? is operating in three stages:
- The ionization device is charged via the lower electrodes using the ambient electrical field (several million volts/meter when storms are prevalent). This means the PREVECTRON is a fully autonomous system requiring no external power supply;
-
The ionization phenomenon is controlled by a device which detects the appearance of a downward leader: the local electrical field increases rapidly when a discharge is imminent. The PREVECTRON detects changes within the field, making it the first E.S.E. air terminal to react at the precise moment the downward leader develops from the cloud to the ground.
-
Early triggering of the upward leader using a system of spark ionization between the upper electrodes and the central tip. The PREVECTRONR's ability to trigger an upward leader ahead of any other protruding point within the protected area ensures it will be the preferential point of impact for the lightning discharge.
Prevectron Installation
Installation procedure for the PREVECTRONR2 is governed by French standard NFC 17-102 and follows a series of simple rules catering for all types of structure:
-
the tip should be positioned at least 2m above the structure to be protected;
-
two down conductor only are required
-
the resistance of the grounding system should be less than 10Ω;
-
PREVECTRON activity can be recorded by installing a lightning strike counter
-
the PREVECTRON has been designed for the most extreme climatic conditions (see the results of our real-life lightning tests). INDELEC also markets a tester allowing clients to regularly check the air terminal on-site.
