CaCu3Ti4O12(CCTO), also known as CCTO, is an energy-storing material with high dielectric constants, which means that it is one of the best materials for a super capacitor. The higher the dielectric constant is, the more energy a capacitor stores. In this aspect, CCTO has extraordinarily high dielectric constants while its attriction is extraordinarily low(tgδ≈0.03). CCTO is also stable in terms of heat. In a wide temperature span (100~600K), its dielectric constant remains unchanged. Only when the temperature drops to below 100K, the constant starts to plumet(ε≈100). Therefore, electronic ceramic material made with CCTO can be used as ceramic components for dielectrics and piezoelectricity. By using such special components, heat by friction can be reduced, thereby alleviating the weathering of components.
Application area: CCTO is mainly used as energy-storage material, so its application areas include capacitors, resistors, solar cells, alternative energy batteries, cutting edge batteries. Other applications range from Dynamic Random Access Memory(DRAM), to state-of-art aeronautic capacitors and solar panels.
