SD series Multi-turn electric actuator is the terminal control device in industrial process measurement and control system. It can transform the system control signal into the output displacement (quarter turn displacement, multi-turn displacement or linear displacement), output torque or thrust to control the position of closure member and other modulating device in the valve. Thus the controlled medium will work in condition regulated by the system.

Multi turn actuator are used to control gate valve, stop valve, globe valve .

Technical description:

1. There are three output models in SD series

(1)Quarter - turn-output torque and 90°angle.

(2)Linear - output thrust and line movement.

(3)Multi-turn - output torque and over 360°multi-turn rotation.

2. There are two mounting models in SD series

(1)Direct-mounted model

By the flange of output end, the actuator mounts valve and other regulating mechanism. This actuator can be mounted directly on the pipe-line. This model is often used for multi-turn, quarter-turn and liner actuator.

(2)Foot plate mounted model

By the output arm of actuator and connective lever, the actuator mounts valve and other regulating mechanism. The actuator should be mounted on a concrete foundation. It is suited for the quarter-turn actuator only.

3. It can be divided into three types according to modulating mode.

(1)The proportional modulating type

The actuators receives signals(4~20mA or 1~5V)from the computer, the regulating units and so on. The turning angle (or displacement) of the output shaft is in proportion to the input signals. Thus the actuator accomplishes its regulation task automatically.

The proportional modulating actuators can also be divided into two types according to the mounting mode and construction.

(a)Integral proportional modulating type: That is the actuator and position-localizer GAMX-20(normally called amplifier) mount integrally on site for using.

(b)Separated proportional modulating type: The electric actuators are also composed of actuator and position-localizer. But the actuator and position-localizer GAMX are mounted separately; actuator is mounted on the spot while GAMX position-localizer mounted indoors or other places. There is detailed information for appearance, use and installation sample of position-localizer.

Note: the outside mounting modes of integral proportional modulating type and separated proportional modulating type are different.

(2)Remote controlled type: It receives on-off signal or relay signal, enabling the output shaft to stop at any position.

(3)On-off type or two positions type: It receives on-off signal and the output shaft only can stop at the open or closed limited position.

(4) Integral modulating type actuator receives the pulse signal and regulates the parameter according to pulse breath or pulse figure with constant pulse. Separated proportional modulating actuator actually is a remote controlled type plus a separately installed position-localizer GAMX.

REMARK: No matter quarter-turn, multi-turn, or linear actuators, they are all the same in the circuit theory, external connections and adjustment methods. Please pay attention whether the power supply, mounting mode, output torque, travel time and signals are in accordance with user needs or not.
