Matrine is one of alkaloids in root of Sophora Flavescens Ait (Radix Sophorae Flavescentis) and root of Sophora subprostrata Chun et T.Chen , (Radix Sophorae Tonkinensis), in which, There are a lot of alkaloids, but the matrine and oxymatrine has a big percentage. The pure matrine is a white powder, odourless, bitter and it has hygroscopicity then turn light yellow color.
Function: Matrine has many functions in both Clinical medicine and farming. On Clinical medicine, Matrinehas a variety of pharmacological effects, including anti-cancer effects and action as a kappa opioid receptor and μ-receptor agonist. Matrine possesses strong antitumor activities in vitro and in vivo. Inhibition of cell proliferation and induction of apoptosis are the likely mechanisms responsible for matrine's antitumor activities.
On Farming, The matrine means total matrines (all alkaloids) extracted from Sophora Flavescens Ait , it is a low toxic, low residue, Environmentally friendly pesticide, mainly control all kinds of Dendrolimus punctatus Walker, Euproctis Pseudoconspersa Strand, Pieris rapae etc insects.
