Preparative Methods: trityl tetrakis(pentafluorophenyl)borate is prepared by mixing LiB(C6F5)4 and trityl chloride in hexane and refluxing overnight. It is prepared also by one-pot procedure starting from bromopentafluorobenzene.

Purification: recrystallization from CH2Cl2/hexane.

Handling, Storage, and Precautions: should be stored in a dry, dark, and cold place; stable at room temperature for long periods; does not decompose upon exposure to air.
