To increase the ability of the belt to filter very small particles, some filters fabrics are made of the combination of PET monofilament and multifilament yarns (multifilament yarns filling apertures in the monofilament). One of the disadvantages of using multifilament yarns is a quick decrease in the air permeability of the fabric during operation, because blinding occurs faster than usual and consequently the fabric service life is shorter. In the past, we used different types of single or double layer monofilament fabrics with small apertures, capable of filtering very small particles without blinding. If the monofilament fabric is to have a large amount of small apertures, small-diameter monofilament yarn has to be used. On the other hand, the bending resistance of the monofilament fabric is lower than that of the multifilament fabric. If the monofilament fabric is installed on a large filter belt, the risk of rippling and damage to the fabric will be higher.
Nowadays, we offer a new generation of filter fabrics made of monofilament yarns. Thanks to their unique construction, they have great filtration and mechanical properties (including high bending resistance), which makes them suitable for wide belt filters with high demands on mechanical properties of the fabric.
Filter fabrics for vacuum belt filters contain the common clipper seam or the clipper seam with
a textile overlap. Textile overlap prevents the cake from leaking into the filtrate and eliminates vacuum losses.
Basic Fabric Designs
Tex (150–350 CFM)
Tex is a filter fabric used for filtration of mining sludge in horizontal vacuum filters.
Examples of Application:
Filtration of coal dust in coal mines
Filtration of ground rock in copper mines
Filtration of phosphate rock
Production of phosphoric acid
Filter Fabrics for Filtration of Gypsum
FGD-Tex (10-30 CFM)
FGD-Tex is used in horizontal vacuum filters for filtration of fine gypsum particles in FGD plants.
Examples of Application:
Filtration of gypsum in FGD plants
Filtration of coal ash in coal fired power stations
FGD-Mas (55 – 80 CFM)
FGD-Mas is a new generation double layer filter fabric designed for filtration of gypsum in FGD plants.
Excellent filtration and mechanical properties of the filter fabric are due to the unique fabric construction. PET small-diameter monofilament yarns are used on the cake side to create a large number of very small apertures, while there are PET monofilaments with big diameters on the lower side to achieve high bending and mechanical resistance.
Main advantages of the FGD-Mas filter fabric:
Excellent filtration properties and weave stability
High air permeability throughout the fabric service life
High bending resistance in the cross-machine direction prevents the fabric from rippling
Fabric service life is extended by 20–50% (in comparison with standard fabrics)
