I Nicotine Characteristics
Commonly known as nicotine, is tobacco-specific which belongs to the family of pyridine alkaloids, it has a strong physiological effect on humans. When smoking, the right amount of nicotine intake, can excite spirits, eliminate fatigue, increase the thinking ability, and improve work efficiency, but excessive nicotine can play the role of inhibition and paralysis.
1) Physical Characteristics: Nicotine is a colorless oily liquid at room temperature, soluble in water, and soluble in alcohol, ether, acetone and other organic solvents, distillation boiling point is 248 ℃ under the atmospheric pressure, in the 20 ℃ specific gravity is 1.01. It can escape with steam in the alkaline solution. We can measure its content with spectrophotometer.
2) Chemical Characteristics: In the chemical structure, Nicotine has two nitrogen heterocyclic single key connected (i.e. the pyridine ring and the pyrrole ring), which could make nicotine and acidic substances produce protonation reaction and form a salt.

II Application
1) Applied in medical area. It can be used to treat Alzheimer.
2) Applied in quit- smoking products. It can be used to made smoke oil, eutrit nicotia tablet and other quit- smoking products.
3) Used in Nicotine replacement therapy. Such as nicotine gum, nicotine patches and so on.
4) Used as an additive to manufacture food, nutrition and health care products, flavors and fragrances, cosmetics, and animal feeds.
5) For the production of biological pesticide. It can be used for the high efficiency, no residue, no pollution of biological pesticides.
