Odorless and slight bitter taste.Relative density:2.15(25℃).Melting point:782℃.Boiling point:over 1600℃.Good moisture absorption ability and easily deliquescent when exposed to air.Easily dissolvable in water large quantity of heat released,which aqueous solution is slight acid.Dissolvable in alcohol,acetone and acetic acid.Reacting with ammonia or ethanol will respectively generate complexes of CaCl2·8NH3 and CaCl2·4C2H5OH.After crytallization its aqueous solution will ordinarily separate out hexa-hydrate at room temperature, dissolved in the crystal water of itself when gradually heating to 30℃, gradually loses water if continue heating, turns dihydrate to 200℃ and turns white porous texture of anhydrous calcium chloride when gradually heating to 260℃.

usage

 

It is used for melting snow and deicing on roads, highways, parking lots and docks, as the multipurpose desiccant, such as used for drying the gases of nitrogen, oxygen, hydrogen, hydrochloride and sulfur dioxide, etc and as the dehydrating agent for producing alcohol, ester, aether and crylic acid resin. CaCl₂aqueous solution is the important cryogen for refrigeration machine and ice-making and also the good architecture antifreeze, which can speed up concrete solidification and increase ability to withstand and the fireproofing agent for the fabric. Moreover it is the protection agent and refining agent for aluminum and magnesium metallurgy, the precipitator for lake dyestuff production and for deinking in waste paper processing. It is also the raw material for producing calcium salts. Calcium chloride solution is the flocculation agent in the field of seaweed sodium and soybean products.
