SDI-151 is a North seeker with digital display, constituted with dual degree of freedom dynamically tuned gyro, mechanical transmission and signal decoding circuit. Dual degree of freedom gyro has two basic features, procession and stable spin axis . axis of gyro remains the orientation relative to inertial space, oppositely, the earth rotates for its angular velocity . If taking the earth as standard, the gyro's axis will be found rotating relative to the earth. Therefore, the gyro can track and measure the angular velocity of the earth. North seekers take advantage of this different component of angular velocity on X and Y axis, then get the reference axis position info/then get the system's position info by the rate difference on X and Y sensitive axis.
