Definition and model description of thermal fuse:
1 Rated function Temperature(TF): The thermal cutoff fuse shall be exposed in the test oven or oil bath, to Tf-12K or as declared by the manufacturer, but not higher than 2K below the lowest tolerance. Then, the ambient temperature should be stabilized for 10 minutes. After that, increasing the temperature at the speed of 0.5°C/min until the thermal cutoff fuse cuts off the circuit. The test current should be ≤10mA. Then the temperature is Tf, its function temperature. According to IEC60691, thermal cutoff has to trip off inside the tolerance of +0/-10°C.(If use PSE standard, the tolerance is +/-7°C).

Connection of thermal cutoff:
1.Splicing – Lead can be connected to various terminals or auxiliary lead wires. The splicing portions have to be firmly and reliable. The loose connection portions might increase contact resistance or overheating. The splicing terminals prefer to be copper, especially for big current rating. Splicing connection is strongly recommended because soldering or welding process might damage epoxy. The splicing portion should be at least 10mm away from the main body. Improper vibration should be avoided.
2. Soldering leads: Leads should be heat sinked during soldering operation (see figure 4). If excessive heat is conducted into the thermal link, it can shorten the life. Excessive temperature might damage the epoxy also. The lower rated temperature is marked on thermal link body, the higher demand of heat sink would be needed. Test samples should be X-rayed before and after the soldering and the size of thermal pellet should be measured. The condition should be verified so that no shrinkage will occur. In some cases of pellet shrinkage or color or shape change, it means better heat sink would be necessary to take. (Rated Tf≤113C, lead soldering is not suitable)
