Sodium lactate has a mild saline taste and is commonly used in meat and poultry products to extend shelf life and increase food safety as it has a broad antimicrobial action, such as against yeast and fungi, and is effective at inhibiting most spoilage and pathogenic bacteria. It may be used in shampoo products and other similar items such as liquid soaps.

Application in medicine
(1) its main function for the supplement of body fluids and regulating electrolyte balance in the body,
its injection can relieve diarrhea,dehydration and diabetes caused by gastritis poisoning. It is widely
used in renal patients for continuously portable peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) and ordinary dialysis liquidfor artificial kidney.
(2) It has very effective treatment for skin disorders. Such as: dry skin disease caused extremely dry
symptoms. It is applied in the acne resistance products.
