Other Applications
2. Carboxymethylcellulose sodium (CMC) profile:
Name: Carboxymethylcellulose sodium (CMC)
CAS NO.9085-26-1
Appearance:white or yellowish powder
Viscosity: 5-12000 M.pas.(1% water solution, 25℃, Brookfield viscometer)
Usage: CMC (carboxymethylcellulose sodium) is a polyanionic cellulose ether. It has good solubility in both hot and cold water. It is used in drilling mud, in detergents;as a soil-suspending agent, in resin emulsion paints, adhesives, printing inks, textile sizes, as stabilizer in foods, as protective colloid in general, as pharmaceutic aid (suspending agent; tablet excipient; viscosity-increasing agent)
Storage: CMC could easily absorb water. During storage, care should be taken to ensure that packing sacks are not damaged and to avoid contact with water. Product should be stored in a dry and ventilated area.
Packing : 25kg/bag
3. Function of CMC in the food industry:
1. Thickening: CMC can produce high viscosity at low concentration. It also acts as lubricant.
2. Water retention: CMC is a water binder, helps increase shelf life of food.
3. Suspending aid: CMC acts as emulsifier and suspension stabilizer, particularly in icings to control ice crystal size.
4. Film forming: CMC can produce a film on the surface of fried food, eg. instant noodle, and prevent absorption of excessive vegetable oil.
5. Chemical stability: CMC is resistant to heat, light, mold and commonly used chemicals.
6. Physiologically inert: CMC as a food additive has no caloric value and can not be metabolized.
4. CMC's Function In Toothpaste
1. Good compatibility, can be mixed with various ingredients of toothpaste .
2 .Good thickening effect, helps retain extrusion set.
3. Fine and glossy of toothpaste, no dehydration, no de-cladding .
4. Good stability, suitable thickness; can offer toothpaste special comfortable mouthfeel and gloss.
5. CMC In Ceramic Industry
In the ceramic industry, CMC is used as the excipient, plasticizer and reinforcer of the perform body. Used in the ground coat and cover coat of ceramic, CMC can make the glaze body in a state of stable dispersion. In printing glaze, its main performances are thickening, adhesion and dispersion functions.
6. Carboxymethylcellulose sodium (CMC) Introduction:
CMC is an important cellulose ether. It is obtained by chemical modification of natural fiber and is a polyanion compound with good water-solubility, easily soluble in both cold and hot water, CMC has many unusual and valuable physical and chemical characteristics such as emulsifying disparity, solid disparity, resistance to decay, being physiologically harmless etc., and is widely used as a natural macromolecular derivate.
CMC has excellent properties in terms of thickening, water retention, metabolic inertia, membrane forming and shaping ability, dispersing stability and so on, and can be used as a thickening agent, water-holding agent, adhesive, lubricating agent, emulsifier, auxiliary suspending agent, tablet base, biological base, biological carrier, etc.
