Forged steel ball technical description
The traditional process of forged steel balls is air hammer forging process, put the raw material into a certain size, using air hammer forging the raw material into a ball. Forged steel ball is wearable steel balls made through forging after being heated in high temperature, without melting or casting but only with tempering. That's why it's called forged steel ball.Chromium content contained in forged steel ball is about 0.1% to 0.5%, and carbon content below 1.0%. Though forging by high-temperature tempering which enables part of grinding ball surface to enjoy no less than HRC 56 hardness, poor hardenability of materials for forged steel balls causes core hardness usually to be only HRC30, quenching treatment is usually adopted for forged steel ball under normal circumstances, leading to a high crushing rate for forged grinding ball.
