JMCU- stepper motor driver, A4988, A4983, 3D printer driver module

Using chips: A4988 chips

Brief introduction:

The A4988 is a complete microstepping motor driver with built-in converter, easy to operate. This product can operate bipolar stepper motor in full, half, 1/4, 1/8 and 1/16 stepping mode, and the output drive performance can reach 35 V and + 2 A. The A4988 includes a fixed off time current regulator that can operate in a slow or mixed decay mode. Converters are key to the easy implementation of A4988. As long as the input of a pulse on the step input, microstep can drive motor. No phase sequence table, high frequency control line or complex interface programming is required. The A4988 interface is ideal for applications where complex microprocessors are unavailable or overloaded.

In stepping operation, A4988 chopper control can automatically select the current decay mode (slow or mixed). In a mixed attenuation mode, the device is initially set to attenuate rapidly in a partially fixed down time, and then slow down at the rest of the downtime. A hybrid attenuated current control scheme reduces audible motor noise, increases step accuracy, and reduces power consumption. An internal synchronous rectification control circuit is provided to improve power consumption during pulse width modulation (PWM) operation. Internal circuit protection includes: overheating shutdown with hysteresis, undervoltage lockout (UVLO) and cross current protection. No special power sorting is required.

The A4988 uses a surface mount QFN package (ES) with a size of 5 mm * 5 mm, a nominal overall package height of 0.90 mm, and an exposed heat sink to enhance heat dissipation. The package is leadless package (suffix - T), using 100% matte tin plated lead frame.
