a slag conditioner used to treat the ladle slag before treatment of the steel in the RH Degasser. Application:added to the surface of the ladle slag immediately after completion of tap. Top or bottom stirring of the steel helps the reaction. The addition rate depends on the level of FeO+MnO in the slag, and varies between 1 and 2 Kg per steel tonne. The aim is to reduce the FeO+MnO in the slag to acceptable levels (preferably < 5%) and to maintain adequate slag fluidity. By using SLAX-Deox the detrimental effect of the slag can be significantly reduced.
