The PPV(Pay per view) feature is suited for the Indian working conditions and will give immense potential and flexibility for the cable operator to gain income from PPV events. PPV features: PPV feature is through IC card charging. The customers must prepay certain amount for the PPV event and buy the PPV points. Each PPV event will have fixed points(according to the charge for the program). If the view is interested in the program, he can press buy on his decoder remote and watch the program. The points corresponding to the program will be deducted from his IC Card. So the customer does not have to call the operator or the system do not require any reverse capability for PPV. After viewing certain PPV programs when the points become Zero., the customer can recharge his IC Card for PPV points. The user can view the PPV program he wants at his own luxury and does not have to call or inform the operator of which programs he wants to watch. The PPV function or selection by IC card is password protected to prevent any illegal person trying to buy the PPV events on a Set top box. This function can help operators to have powerful money earning capability through PPV and other services. The system comes with the basic decoder and the high level set top box.
