Diamond sharpening stones are a genuine alternative to wet grinding machinery or conventional sharpening stones. Conventional sharpening stones become concave with use, but the diamond surface stays flat. The mirror side of a plane blade cannot be trimmed on a mechanical grindstone, but this can be easily done on the diamond stone.
