Good tolerability Composion: Each tablet contains 0.25g of azithromycin. Pharmacology : Azithromycin binds the 50S ribosomal subunit of the 70S ribosome of susceptible bacteria, inhibiting translocation of the aminoacyl tRNA and subsequent polypeptide synthesis and, thus, interfering with microbial protein synthesis. Azithromycin has been shown to be active against the following microorganisms Indications: for the treatment of infections caused by susceptible organisms to azithromycin: in lower respiratory tract infections including bronchitis and pneumonia; in skin and soft tissue infections; in upper respiratory tract infections including sinusitis and pharyngitis/tonsillitis; in sexually transmitted diseases including uncomplicated genital infections due to Chlamydia trachomatis and non-multiresistant Neisseria gonorrhea (concurrent infection with Treponema pallidum should be excluded). Dosage and Administration: Adult: For treatment of sexually transmitted diseases caused by chlamydia trachomatis the dose is 1 gram (4 tablets) given as single dose. For the other indications, the dose is 1500mg, which should be given 500mg (2 tablets) daily for 3 days, or alternatively be given over 5 days with 500mg given on day 1, then 250mg daily on days 2 to 5. Children: for treatment of pharyngitis/tonsillitis the dose is 12mg/kg, which should be given daily for 5 days. And the maximum daily dose shall not exceed 0.5 g. Contraindications: It is contraindicated in patients with a known hypersensitivity to Azithromycin or any of the macrolide antibiotics, or to any other ingredient of the preparation.
