W-812 is a USB2.0 TO E-sata array hard disk enclosure, supports RAID 1. RAID 1is also called Mirror or Mirroring，which ensures user of reliability and restore of data to maximum extent. every writing to disk will automatically backed up 100% to separate disk in RAID 1 .

    As Figure above：system will read data in original source disk in RAID 0，and will not read data in back up disk, if fails to read data in original disk，system will automatically change and read data in back up disk，this will not interrupt operation / task for user. Of course，we must replace the failed disk immediately and creat Mirror with back up data，to avoid data loss you can’t afford if a back disk fails.

 

    As storage data is backed up 100% in RAID 1, so RAID 1 provide the highest level protection for the data among all the RAID modes, mirror can’t increase storage performance，but as it provides high level of protection for data，it is specially used for storing critical data。
