It is used to cool down drilling head, strengthen well wall, control pressure of crude oil and natural gas, etc. At present, barite is 80% used as weighting agent in drilling mud. The rest 20% is mainly used in coating, plastic, rubber, paper, glass and so on. Few is used in medicine and radiation prevention and so on.
