α-βblock is a dense, fused cast refractory containing approximately 45% alpha alumina, 55% beta alumina, and a minor amount of silicate boundary phase. The intergrowth of crystalline phases and low interstitial glass boundary phase increase the structural stability of Alpha-Beta under load at high temperature. It offers excellent corrosion resistance and low defect potential in the conditioning or refining end of a glass melting furnace. That it is very suitable for paving blocks and forehearth channel blocks.
