Qingdao Hitech Automation Instrument Co., Ltd. (qhai for short), a Sino-foreign joint venture located in Qingdao High-tech Technology Industrial Park, is a high-tech enterprise engaged in the R&D, production, sale and service of various automatic instruments, auto testing equipments and control system engineering. Over years of continuous and stable development, QHAI has had the following main products: various electronic, electric-magnetic and mechanical counters, timers, encoders, sensors, relays, various auto electronic device testers, auto engine testers, auto disc eddy current dynamometers, auto fuel injection testers as well as industrial and electric household controllers.

QHAI used to be the state-owned Qingdao Counter Factory and Qingdao No. 1 Instrument Factory, the key and appointed enterprises of the Ministry of Mechanical and Electronic Industry, PRC. The two factories respectively had more than 40 years' production history of counters, timers and encoders and more than 60 years' production history of automobile inspection meters, industrial and electric household controllers. In 1993, the state-owned Qingdao Counter Factory jointly founded Qingdao Hengstler Automation Instrument Co. Ltd. (former registered name) with Germany Hengstler GmbH. In 1997, the company established joint venture cooperation with Invensys Group (a Top 500 multinational company). In 1998, the company had the reorganization of assets with Qingdao No. 1 Instrument Factory. In 2001, the company was renamed Qingdao Hitech Automation Instrument Co., Ltd.

In 1997, QHAI firstly passed the certification of ISO9001-1994 Quality Management System; the counter (timer) series products passed the certifications of UL, CE and RoHS. In 2008, it passed the certification of ISO9001-2009 Quality Management System. Besides, QHAI won the titles of "Qingdao Modern Enterprise System Pilot Enterprise", "Top Ten High-tech Enterprise", "Contract-abiding & Promise-keeping Enterprise", "Class-AA Credit Enterprise", "Civilization Unit and Model Enterprise", etc.
