As far back as 1978, the predecessor of Saonon had already set up it's own business in Guangdong. In 1995, Saonon started distributing and servicing Caterpillar's products such as diesel generators. And it got authorized in 1998 as a general agent of American Caterpillar, the global largest generator products supplier, mainly for distribution of generating sets, engineering machinery and relevant service in South China and East China.

Saonon has been making full use of the advantages of its own marketing service network and Caterpillar 75-years' high-quality technology, its business has expanded over six provinces in South China such as Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian, Jiangxi, Hunan, Hainan etc. in the industries such as communication, banking, medical and health, highway, hotel, real estate, industrial and mining enterprises etc., and the company is the appointed chief supplier of GMCC (Guangdong Mobile Communication Corporation) for supplying generating equipment and it has obtained extensive trust from clients, and become an very important partner of Caterpillar in Chinese market.

Saonon, since its establishment, has accumulated rich experience in generator set installation, engine room environmental protection (noise and waste gas prevention) and power distribution, and offers the services of installation project and model selection, leasing, maintenance of engineering machinery etc. for clients.

Saonon passed ISO9001 quality system certification in 2001 and was awarded the title of Ten Years Continual Honoring Contracts and Keeping Promises Company of Guangdong Province in 2002. In 2003, the company obtained design qualification for environmental protection work, and China Compulsory Product Certification (CCC Certification) for low-voltage complete set of switch products, as well as self-support management right for import and export.
